IPIS vzw - International Peace Information Service
IPIS is an independent research institute devoted to peace and development in sub-Saharan Africa. Our thematic focus concerns three core themes: arms trade, exploitation of natural resources, and business & human rights. Drawing from its expertise, IPIS also engages in capacity building and technical training for NGOs, governments and other stakeholders in our focal region.

Although we often do research projects for campaigning organisations, we do not engage in campaigning and lobbying activities, this to ensure the unbiased nature of our reporting.

  • IPIS is recruiting a researcher on Conflict Mapping, starting in June 2014. This is a 90% FTE permanent contract.

  • April 2014 - The interface of the interactive web map of Eastern DRC mines is now updated.
  • January 2014 - In its report ‘Mapping Conflict Motives: the Sudan-South Sudan border’, IPIS analyses the conflict dynamics in the wider border area spanning Sudan and South Sudan. The analysis specifically looks into the motivations and interests of the parties involved in the interstate, intrastate and local conflicts in this area. The report is accompanied by an interactive web map of the region of focus.
